Optimus Education is delighted to announce that acclaimed broadcaster Jason Mohammad will return as host of this year’s MAT Excellence Awards.

A familiar face to audiences across the UK, Jason is best known for presenting BBC One’s Final Score and covering some of the world’s biggest sporting events, including the Olympics, FA Cup, and Rugby World Cup. Alongside his television work, he hosts his own weekday programme on BBC Radio Wales and is widely recognised for his engaging and energetic presenting style, qualities that made him a standout host at last year’s awards.

His return comes at an exciting time in his career, as he continues to inspire the next generation through his media academy, where he teaches and coaches aspiring talent in television, radio, and podcasting.

Reflecting on his return to the MAT Excellence Awards stage, Jason said:

‘Naturally, I am super excited to be coming back to host this year's award ceremony. As someone who has set up a media academy, where we teach and coach the next generation of TV, radio, podcast stars, it is the perfect time for me to come back and present these awards.

I was absolutely overwhelmed by the success stories that we heard last year and I'm looking forward to listening to even more incredible tales and who knows, I might even get the crowd to sing again!’

The MAT Excellence Awards continue to celebrate the exceptional achievements of multi-academy trusts, recognising the dedication, innovation, and impact of leaders, educators, and support staff across the sector.

Following the energy and inspiration of last year’s event, 2026 promises another unforgettable evening, bringing together the very best in education to celebrate success, share stories, and champion excellence.

We look forward to welcoming Jason and all our shortlisted trusts on 11 June in London for what promises to be another outstanding night.
