58 trusts and 13 companies have made the shortlist for the MAT Excellence Awards 2024. Congratulations! With more than 15 submissions in some categories, getting down to a shortlist has been a challenge. Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations and shared the commitment, hard work and successes of your trust or company.

Judging process

Every submission was read by the judging panel for that category, and scored against factors such as the quality and impact of the actions described, and the strength of the evidence shared to support the submission. (To find out more about the nomination and judging process, check out the submission guidelines and what judges Lee Miller and Nickii Messer had to say about what makes a winner.)

Winners return and welcome companies!

We’re delighted to see some of our 2023 award winners back in the shortlist: E-ACT, Lionheart Educational Trust, Ormiston Academies Trust, The Park Academies Trust and Windsor Academy Trust. We’re thrilled to welcome trusts shortlisted for the first time this year too!

Also new this year are our categories for companies that support trusts through their products and services. 13 companies have been shortlisted for:

  • Company of the year
  • Product of the year
  • Trust collaboration award.

Most popular categories – and decision time!

Our most popular categories this year, with shortlists of eight trusts each, were:

  • CEO of the year
  • Community trust of the year
  • Inclusivity award
  • Staff development award
  • Trust executive team of the year.

The judging panels will meet in the upcoming months to select winners. Best of luck to everyone, and thank you in advance to our judges, who have a tough job on their hands!

We look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony – further details to come soon!
